Her name

Finally handed in BabyM's documentation for her birth certificate. In the end she got her middle name. Here's something I wrote for her when the name was decided upon:

--

Like a rosebud not yet open, new life brings with it magnificent potential.

Hands that will sign important documents and be held by important people. A face that will change over the years and from moment to moment as it reveals what is felt by the heart. A heart which will beat so fast sometimes and so steadily at others. A mind which will take in a lifetime of information and find ways to use that information to inspire, to comfort, to convince. A voice to speak things never before said and to sing a new song. Feet to tread new ground and walk the path of those before.

Those that have come before, my sweet daughter, have been great indeed. They have made a mark of which you will grow to be so proud. Within a few days of your entrance into this world, one of your great grannies made her exit. Granny Jacqueline Rose. If you need any help as you tread the path and beat your drum, just let her in.

May you connect with her love of art, literature and healthy food, her commitment to her country and its people and her courage to play a part in making the world a better place.

In her honour, we give you a name that was hers: Rose
