Ladies night

I had a nice evening out with the girls. It began at the recently revamped Mo’s noodles on Florida road and ended with dancing at the old Monkey bar (recently renamed). Thursday nights in Durban seem to be allocated to boys/girls nights, at least among our friends. The girls meet for dinner somewhere and their partners go somewhere else. My guess is that it started with the men wanting to behave like boys and randomly electing Thursday to do it. It suits us ladies fine though and, when we have managed to get together, the evenings have ranged from sophisticated dining to casual drinks and dancing with variations on the theme. Even though it is supposedly a weekly affair it usually seems pretty spontaneously organized. You bump into someone at the beginning of the week and they say, ‘hey, we should get together’ and the reply is invariably, ‘maybe we should have a ladies night’. And then sometime on Wednesday it comes up again with someone else and then the smses start rolling out: ‘Ladies night tomorrow, keen to join?’ and then someone suggests a place and time and we all secretly start to plan our outfits. But its just as easy to say, ‘I’m staying in tonight’. Robbie, for example, did that last night. He actually had two different invitations to boy’s night with two different groups of boys- popular guy- and he decided not to go to any. Maybe next week I won’t go. Wonder if I’ll still be saying that on Wednesday!

Have a good weekend everybody.
