Weekend away

Robbie and I drove down to Trafalgar this weekend.
Along the South Coast road.
In the dark.
Along dark roads.
Being passed by speeding cars.
Unroadworthy cars, only one light working.
Past Umkomaas (where Ilan works)
Past Port Shepstone, Shelly Beach and Margate.
Two hour drive.
To Fox's 'cottage' on the beach

Robbie, Jean from Canada, Fox and two dogs.
Lucy and Jack.
Trafalgar is a beautiful unspoiled village.
But Fox said we were lucky our car was still there in the morning.

On Saturday Robbie and I went walking.
Down a little path onto the beach.
A wonderful 2 km long beach.
A Piece of paradise.
We walked and walked.
But could not find a little path back up.

Exploring each glade with hope.
Each pathway seemed to end in a tangle of subtropical vegetation.

Saved.
A path that became steps.
Glory.
What were we even worried about.
