Mom: Stink? Do you mean extinct? Why are Dodos extinct?
Son: Why are Dodos 'stinct?
Mom: Do you know what extinct means? It’s when something used to exist and it doesn’t anymore. Like the Dodo bird.
Son: Why doesn’t it anymore?
Mom: Because people didn’t look after them nicely.
Son: (Taking a magnet off the fridge) Where did you get this one from?
Mom: Mommy and daddy got it when we visited Mauritius, which is where Dodos used to live.
Son: (Considering the bird in his hand) I think we must look after it nicely.
