The strike
The strike is on in a big way and the country has all but shut down as public service workers protest in demand for higher wages. Chappies (and everything else) are probably 5 times more expensive than they were in 1994 but, as I understand it, civil servants are still being paid the same now as they were then. Those of us that could avoid the CBD today did, but unfortunately babies don’t avoid being born because their nurses are toyi-toying through the streets and learners cannot avoid their exams even though their teachers haven’t pitched for two weeks to complete the syllabus.
