Sweet start to the new year

It's not always easy traveling. In fact, with two toddlers, traveling can be a down-right nightmare. But, as Robbie pointed out on our return from Jo'burg, it's always worth it.

In truth the only actual nightmare-ish part was trying to fit the car seats in our rental and loosen the darn straps. This, late in the day, after flying between cities with kiddies who hadn't slept and whose lunch ended up being  popcorn, chocolate rice cakes and Babybel cheese. Needless to say, when Miks was screaming so much she couldn't breathe, I took her out of the stupid seat we had just managed to get her into, and stood for a breath of fresh air on the lovely Louis Botha avenue.  And by lovely I mean "not the kind of place you should be stopping, Terri".

So, what could make this worth it? The prize of time spent with my family. With our shared sense of humour, memories, optimism and enterprize, enjoyment of healthy food and coffee and our adoration of Son, Baby M and their brother cousins.

That this visit centred around a very important time in our Jewish calendar, added more special. My extended family and close family all celebrated Rosh Hashannah together. I even got to say something about how at this time, "the head of the year", we should think about our vision for the year ahead. It's what we could be contemplating alongside general redemption.

To those near and those far may you have the blessing of a vision realized and a sweet, sweet year.
