Expressed with love

Being exclusively breast fed for 4 months meant Son built up my milk production quite a nicely. Now that he is having two solid meals a day and a formula bottle at night, there is enough milk to go around. So instead of just letting the production naturally decrease, we (Son and I) are giving our milk to babies in need. There is an amazing home in Durban that cares for infants that have either been abandoned or orphaned as a result of their mothers dying of AIDS. It's called iThemba Lethu and each drop of milk donated improves these babies lives. 50ml is enough to feed a premature baby for a whole day, and apparently the difference it makes to their health is remarkable and almost immediate. I can express three times that amount in under 10 minutes! I'm amazed at how simple it is to give such a valuable gift! We're always told how breast milk is the best thing for a baby and how this precious liquid contains the perfect nutrients for a baby's brain to grow to its maximum potential, so Son and I may actually be making a difference to these little babies' futures. And if not to their futures, certainly to their presents; by filling up their tummies with nature's healthy yummy goodness. Expressed with love.
