The Gang does Mini Town

This Sunday we took our little gangsters to Mini Town on the Durban beach front. Son is really into monsters and wanted to pretend he was a giant monster ("HUMUNGOSAUR!!") so he's been begging for this outing for a while. He walked around saying "I could just crush this little house with my foot" and "look at that tiny car, I could just throw it into another planet" often followed by an ominous "hahahahaaaaa". Luckily his human sense of reasonable behaviour, or self-preservation, prevailed.
Only once did the man in the watch tower have to boom down orders to "stay on the path". That was when the gangsters got a little too close to the tiny supporters in the stadium. Kings Park stadium, mind you, not the new Moses Mabida stadium which, since 2010, has been the city's pride, joy and main icon. No, that doesn't have a sponsor to fund it being built apparently. Not that that ever stopped construction of the real one.
None-the-less, the Mini Town experience still thrills the little ones with its busy train station and colourful constructions to survey from novel angles.
Less thrilling for moms is the experience of nappy changing at Mini Town. How is it that a children's venue does not have a changing facility? The restrooms are certainly big enough to accommodate a small padded surface. Instead I had to attend to Baby M's hiney on a hard concrete bench in the vacant party area.
On leaving I dropped a verbal recommendation in the ticket-master's booth that they invest in a changing mat and a stadium. His response: "as long as you had a good time".
Which we did.
