At one

At 1 year Baby M, or Miks as she's most often called, is weighing in at 9.8kgs.
She is 78cm tall and the circumference of her head is 46.5.
Interestingly at this age Son was 10.8kg, 80.5cm and 49 around the brain.

I remember his first birthday well. It was my first birthday as a mom too remember.
We invited to the park all the children we knew, which was quite a few as Son had already started at playschool once a week. I attempted to bake and ice a soccer ball cake, hung up soccer related paraphernalia and sent everybody home with Barney-playing-soccer bags filled with goodies. It was fun but a certainly more stressful than the party we had for Miks. Also, Son was walking at this stage in his development so wandered quite happily around the park enjoying seeing so many of the people he knew playing on the equipment he usually experienced alone.

Miks, on the other hand, had a much smaller gathering at home, which was just right for her. She was quite content whether perched in her highchair munching on a miellie, presiding over all the goings-on in her garden, scooting around on a plastic train or bravely cruising between chairs as toddlers swiped at bubbles all around her.

The children in attendance all belonged to our dearest friends so everyone was familiar with the home and could comfortably help themselves to the food and drink I had put out, or had forgotten to put out as is the usual order for me.

Each child got a Mickey Mouse mask as a take-home gift, which proved to be more of a stay-here-and-play-more gift, and at the end of the day there were some paper plates to throw away, a cupcake or two to scrape off the stairs and some left over animal-shape pasta and peas for lunch. Finished and klaar!

So, thank you Miks for having such a fabulously chilled and happy first birthday, just like you!
