Friday 2 July
(1 day after securing tickets for the Ghana vs Uruguay game at Soccer City, Johannesburg)
9am- Pilates
10am- Pack
11am- leave for airport (Son doesn’t sleep in the car)
12pm- find place for lunch (Son doesn’t sleep in the pram)
1pm- plane delayed
2:30pm- fly to Jo’burg (Son doesn’t sleep on the plane)
3:45pm- arrive in Jo’burg
4:30pm- stuck in Sandton traffic with my mom
5pm- putting on extra layers of clothes + Ghana beanie
5:05pm- leave for Melrose arch
5:30pm- look for people who have our fan ride ticket
6pm- on the fan ride to Soccer City
7pm- stuck in traffic (Text from mom: Son asleep)
8:15pm- running to the stadium
8:25pm- running up the ramp to our seats
8:30pm- missing kick-off
8:45pm- in seats. Dinner: packet of salted crisps
11pm- extra time over, Ghana wrongly on the loosing side
12am- found fan bus eventually
12:45am- fan bus will not leave without lost guy from Zambia
1:30am- mom comes to fetch us from Melrose Arch
2am- falling asleep in bed
4:30am- Son up for the day
6am- Granny takes over. I get to sleep till 8!
*Times are as close to right as my memory will allow. It's quite a blur if you can imagine!
