House hunting

We’re doing some house hunting. Not that we want a house, at least not any time soon. And there’s certainly nothing wrong with the place we’re in at the moment. Perhaps it’s voyeuristic- wondering through people’s homes, seeing how they live. Imagining your life in that space. All the renovating you’d have to do. All the entertaining you could do with that open-plan kitchen.

The other day we saw a house that was nice enough for us to phone Bess and tell her to go have a look. She did go see it and responded with a story about the house they lived in with the stairs down from the garage and how she would have to manage with Ilan in one arm, Robbie the other and a Labrador prone to knocking people off their feet. Oh and she was pregnant with Jonx. That story smartly put me off homes with too many stairs.

Unfortunately if we want to be high up enough to have a view, stairs are something we might come across often, and Robbie wants a view. I want an open plan kitchen. And an en-suite bathroom. And a garden big enough to kick a ball in, but which doesn't require too much maintenance. And we both want much more money in the bank to afford this ultimate home we’ll inevitably find!
